Mr Rea makes a decent fist of Bloom ... actually, about 15 years ago there was a 10 part series on great modern writers shown on British TV ... each an hour long look at a major work, featuring voice-overs, talking heads and dramatised excerpts. The programme dedicated to Ulysses was excellent; Anthony Burgess spoke eloquently on Joyce and the novel and there were some very good scenes featuring John Lynch as Dedalus and David Suchet (good actor, plays Poirot on Brit TV) took the part of Bloom. He is, for me, the definite screen Bloom so far, really caught parts of the character. I would love to see him in a full length film adaptation.
